“I think the Pope could be an atheist,” Invoice Maher stated on his exhibit Friday night time. “There, I stated it. Like I believe Obama is.”

This revelation followed an errant remark Pope Francis made in regards to the inclusive nature of Catholicism. “Pope Frank mentioned, ‘the lord has redeemed every body, no longer simply Catholics, even the atheists,” Maher stated. “And I was once like, ‘I am going to e book my flight to heaven presently.’”

“It’s humorous, it’s just like politics,” Maher endured. “The hierarchy on the Vatican was like ‘What the fuck did this guy simply say?’ It’s worthwhile to nearly see them preparing the poison. ‘Luckily we’ve received a spare pope!’”

“I understand that when I was once making Religulous,” Maher said, “we talked to various priests, and we discovered that various priests truly aren’t believers. They do it as a result of—now, some of them do it for the intercourse. But there’s quite a lot of excellent ones, they do it because it’s a solution to lend a hand folks. They comprehend they are able to’t inform the lots that it’s all a crock, but they themselves don’t consider it.”

“Pope Frank,” Maher mentioned, “he’s a worldly guy from that generation, and—I’m telling you, I feel the Pope’s an atheist.”

“As a progressive I think the Pope kinda rocks,” said Neera Tanden, President of the Middle for American Development. “He’s been great on so many issues.”

“This Pope?” Maher asked. “Already? He’s been there like every week!”

“He’s already chastised austerity in Europe,” Tanden stated, “he’s criticized using all these individuals into unemployment, and all of the cuts that persons are in point of fact suffering from. He’s made arguments about corporate income versus poverty, that we will have to care extra about how people are suffering and care less about how banks are doing.”

“Oh, they’re going to poison him,” Maher said.

“We should embody his works, and the truth that he’s actually been a powerful voice on truly vital issues,” Tanden said. “In just two months he’s been a clean exchange from where the Church has been on these issues.”

“Once I discuss to Catholics,” James Poulos, HuffPost Reside producer, agreed, “a few of them, even who are very important of Church that’s been shifting leftward in some ways, in point of fact assume that he does numerous good.”

Maher then played the viral clip of Wolf Blizter being surprised by means of an atheist within the rubble of the Moore tornado.

“What’d you recall to mind that?” Maher asked.

“You don’t need to be an atheist to assume that God cares less about your home and perhaps extra about your soul,” Poulos stated. “You don’t have to thank the lord that your hosue continues to be standing. I don’t assume that’s what faith’s all about.”

“Additionally,” playwright Paul Rudnick said, “what do you say to your neighbor whose home was once leveled?”

“That’s at all times the thing,” Maher mentioned. “It’s obviously so totally arbitrary.”

“And who made the tornado?” Rudnick requested, and the segment ended on that existential query.
