Monday’s White House press briefing got just a little testy after Press Secretary Jen Psaki took a number of questions from CNN’s M.J. Lee.

Over the span of just about 5 minutes, Lee requested Psaki questions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech about Ukraine, First Woman Jill Biden’s visit to Kyiv, and a query about Covid-19 infections. After Psaki answered the closing question, Lee requested a practice-up.

One unidentified reporter it appears did not enjoy the collection of questions Psaki used to be taking from Lee. As she tried to ask a fourth query, he interrupted her.

Lee started out, “Would the White House have the ability to–”

“Jen, can we unfold out the questions a little bit?” he stated, before it appears talking to Lee. “Can you yield to your colleagues please?”

Psaki responded, “I’d feel free to, but I feel it could be polite when you let M.J. end her question.”

“A few,” he shot back, ahead of reputedly addressing Lee once more. “Can you yield to your colleagues, please?”

Whereas journalists are typically aware of their press corps colleagues, some one-on-one exchanges with the press secretary can run for a couple of minutes, as Psaki’s exchange with Lee did. It is uncommon for newshounds to interrupt other journalists in this kind of style.

On the other hand, such interruptions aren’t that uncommon. Closing month EWTN reporter Owen Jensen obnoxiously interrupted several newshounds as they tried to ask Psaki questions. She left the briefing room without responding to his questions on abortion.
