The households of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman are outraged after O.J. Simpson used to be included within the “In Memoriam” tribute on the BET Awards.
Like most award displays, the BET Awards on Sunday took a second to honor the deaths of probably the most business’s most important figures during the last 12 months. For that award express particularly, the tribute was once dedicating to honoring “Black excellence.”
Right through many of the tribute, the crowd gave a round of applause to each and every new name that seemed on display. When O.J.’s name and headshot appeared, however, the applause in short stopped and there was once an ungainly silence.
O.J., who died in April after combating prostate most cancers, is most recurrently known for his involvement in the murders of Nicole and Goldman. Though he was acquitted in the prison trial, he used to be found accountable for their deaths in a civil trial.
After the airing of the BET Awards, the households expressed to TMZ how dissatisfied they were with O.J.’s inclusion.
Fred Goldman, Ron’s father, stated he “cant wrap his head around” the tribute, stating “there was once completely no sure spin on his inclusion.”
“I believe they shouldn’t embrace somebody of that caliber — a wife beater, assassin,” Fred stated. “Can’t imagine why they would come with anyone like that.”
Nicole’s sister Tanya referred to as it “inappropriate to present an abuser and murderer attractiveness.”
“Whoever considered doing that owes every home violence sufferer an apology,” Tanya stated, “and that’s together with our domestic. And, they must be fired.”
BET has no longer commented on the backlash for the tribute.
