White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre hit again at EWTN White House correspondent Owen Jensen over his characterization of Title IX protections which have just long gone into impact.
At Wednesday’s White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre pushed again on Jensen — who has attacked trans protections up to now — when he claimed protections within the new rule “harm women and women” and used language offensive to trans individuals:
OWEN JENSEN: Karine, thanks.
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Yeah.
OWEN JENSEN: The new Title IX went into impact ultimate week — remaining Thursday. As , it’s confronted numerous proceedings. Many governors say they’re not going to even follow it. So, there’s that attitude of it.
But critics say the new Title IX hurts women and girls. For starters, they are saying it is going to ruin ladies’s sports activities with the aid of allowing organic men to compete in an instant in opposition to girls in sports. Does the president share that concern?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: So, let me simply say — so, there’s still ongoing litigation, so I must refer you to DOJ.
But extra commonly, every pupil deserves the correct to really feel safe. Each pupil deserve the right to really feel safe in faculties. That’s what the rule of thumb is all about: strengthening and restoring crucial protections that the previous administration took away.
And ending violence against girls and girls has been a priority — a precedence not only for this president as president however, for sure, all over Se- — all over his Senate years, all the way through his profession. And that’s something that he is very, very — has been always very concerned with.
That is the most important step in an ongoing work to end campus sexual assault. That’s what we want to see. And I can’t talk any longer to the litigation. I’m no longer going to get in advance of — of any of that. So, I’m simply going to go away it there.
OWEN JENSEN: But how do you address the concerns that the new laws, the new Title IX rewrite will enable males — organic men into ladies’s locker rooms?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Look, I want to be, once more, truly careful here. It’s an ongoing litigation. I’m no longer going to claim beyo- — the rest past that.
OWEN JENSEN: Does the president have any considerations about this? Is he going to drag it?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: I’m no longer going to s- — I’m —
OWEN JENSEN: Is he going to pull the —
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: I’m now not going to —
OWEN JENSEN: — Title IX?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: I’m — it’s an ongoing litigation thru DOJ. I’m simply now not going to claim beyond that.
