Former Rep. Liz Cheney said she is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president. The previous Republican congresswoman from Wyoming is a longtime critic of former President Donald Trump, primarily over his position in inspiring the 2021 Capitol rebellion. Trump falsely claims the election was once rigged in opposition to him and tried to force officers in states he lost to overturn their outcomes.

Cheney served on the Home Jan. 6 choose committee, which additional rankled her Republican colleagues. Trump backed Cheney’s GOP primary challenger and Cheney misplaced in a blowout after she was once ousted from her management place inside the House Republican Convention.

CNN producer Package Maher stated on the endorsement on Wednesday.

“As a conservative, as somebody who believes in and cares in regards to the Structure, I’ve concept deeply about this, and as a result of the risk that Donald Trump poses, no longer only am I no longer vote casting for Donald Trump, but I will likely be vote casting for Kamala Harris,” Cheney said whereas talking at Duke University. The revelation earned her a round of applause from the audience.

Prior this year, Trump called for Cheney to be imprisoned, writing that she “must go to Penal complex along with the remainder of the Unselect Committee!” The former president falsely alleged that Cheney and different members of the committee destroyed proof that would have exculpated him over his function in inciting the Capitol riot.
