The Cook dinner Political Document shifted its ranking for two key U.S. Senate races on Monday, transferring Pennsylvania’s race from “lean Democrat” to “toss up” and the race in Nebraska’s from “possible Republican” to “lean Republican.”

Fox News’s Martha MacCallum spoke to her panel Monday about the shift, noting, “That is simply coming in from the Prepare dinner Political Record. They have got simply moved the Pennsylvania Senate race that is Casey and McCormick to tossup from leans Democrat. Nebraska’s Senate has moved to lean Republican. Give me a sense of what you’re feeling as we’re 15 days out presently.”

Wall Boulevard Journal editor at better Gerard Baker responded, “Yeah. Seem to be, I think that Pennsylvania number from the Cook Record may be very important. It had been Bob Casey, the incumbent Democrat, had been has been prime in all of the polls that it has been the entire polls in in view that for the final 2 or 3 months due to the fact that David McCormick, the Republican, acquired the Republican nomination.”

“He’s been behind within the polls, however he’s been closing the hole,” Baker continued, including:

And I feel it suits in with that larger picture that you simply’re seeing, Martha, of considerations from the Democrats popping out of Pennsylvania. You hear it all the time. I’ve spoken to Democratic folks, folks involved within the campaign in Pennsylvania, and they’re very frightened. They are involved that the number of people that came out, you recognize, remember that, that’s a state that Trump gained in 2016. Biden won in 2020 on a huge turnout.

They’re concerned about a few of these Biden supporters no longer coming out to vote. Important numbers of them not coming out to vote for Harris in 2016, in 2024, and a few of them balloting for Trump.

Pennsylvania’s key obviously in both the Senate and the presidential race. So I’m not shocked at all. It matches in with that broader picture that we’ve considered of small, no longer dramatic, however small, steady, important shift towards Donald Trump in nearly all of those key swing states. You already know, again, it’s on a knife area. Nobody would make any predictions, however that is the message that we’re hearing from both campaigns.
