Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) formally informed Home Minority Chief Hakeem Jefferies (D-NY) two of his Democratic colleagues might not be returning to the Intelligence Committee in the new Congress.
McCarthy indicated he would no longer seat Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) on that committee. He in the past raised considerations about Schiff’s managing of the primary impeachment investigation into former President Donald Trump, in addition to Swalwell’s interactions with an alleged Chinese language secret agent.

Democrats allege the move is payback after the former Democratic-controlled House voted to strip Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from their committee assignments.
In Gosar’s case, he shared a photoshopped anime video displaying him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). As for Greene, she was once eliminated after she was once discovered to have favored a Fb remark saying “a bullet to the top” of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) can be a “quicker” strategy to dispose of her from the place.
McCarthy has accused Schiff the usage of his position as a House impeachment supervisor against Trump to “mislead the American public again and again.”
