President Joe Biden stated on Friday that he would have defeated President-pick Donald Trump had he not ended his reelection bid in July. Additionally, Biden mentioned Vice President Kamala Harris would’ve crushed Trump as neatly.
Harris lost to Trump in November’s election.
Biden took questions from newshounds at the White House on Friday, where a reporter asked about his determination to drop out of the race over the summer season:
REPORTER: Mr. President, do you remorseful about your resolution to run for reelection? Do you assume that that made it more uncomplicated to your predecessor to now become your successor?
BIDEN: I don’t assume so. I think I would’ve beaten Trump, may’ve beaten Trump. And I believe that Kamala may’ve crushed Trump, would’ve crushed Trump. It wasn’t about– I assumed it was important to unify the celebration. And when the birthday celebration was involved about whether or no longer I used to be going with the intention to transfer, I thought, although I believed I may win again, I thought it used to be better to unify the birthday celebration. And I had– it was once the greatest honor in my life to be president of the US. But I didn’t need to be one who caused a party that wasn’t unified to lose an election. And that’s why I stepped apart. However I used to be confident she may win.
Biden stepped apart weeks after he turned in a disastrously meandering debate performance in opposition to Trump in late June. All the way through the debate, he stumbled thru a response to a query in regards to the national debt. He ended his solution by announcing, “We finally beat Medicare.”
The president’s efficiency shook party insiders, who initiated a power campaign to get Biden to step aside. In some way, he relented and Harris took the reins.
