Invoice Maher and former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) received into it over President Donald Trump and Republicans with regards to elections and the trouble to overturn the 2020 election result in a podcast interview released on Sunday.

All through the latest episode of Maher’s Club Random, former Florida Rep. and ex-Trump administration nominee Gaetz joined the comedian and pundit for a protracted conversation, throughout which they discussed Trump’s inauguration, peaceable transfers of energy, and the slightly less than peaceable 2020 handover to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Maher said that there’s a distinction between Democrats calling Trump an “illegitimate president” and the Republican 2020 efforts to overturn the consequences of the election, including the January sixth try to not certify the end result and the concurrent rioting and violence.

The dialog became heated when Gaetz tried to push back on Maher claiming hypocrisy via Republicans who now object to Democrats regarding Trump as “not a sound president.”

GAETZ: For those who’re speaking about the use of force to reach your political goals, I feel I feel it’s slightly on subject.

MAHER: And it’s not like the left doesn’t do a model. I imply, they must no longer were bitching about Trump just isn’t a sound president. That was once wrong. I agree. It’s very completely different than in reality seeking to keep in energy. We just had January 6th. It went off easily with out a hitch. Locations, everybody, locations. oK, The rehearsal went nice, and now we do it and we go house. That’s now not would have happened if you happen to guys had misplaced. And you understand that… that’s asymmetry you must address.

GAETZ: oKay. Let me tackle it. You’re proper. This prior week we had a ravishing January sixth, the ultimate time we had a Republican president elected and Democrats didn’t object to the electors — have you learnt the last time that was once?

MAHER: This is the more or less bullshit–

GAETZ: Smartly, look, it used to be 1988. It was once 1988. The ultimate time they didn’t object to a vote. They objected to George W Bush profitable Ohio.

MAHER: Objecting is totally different than calling the Justice Department and pressuring them to do things that even his own Justice Department wouldn’t do. It’s totally different than calling the fellow in Georgia and announcing, to Find me eleven,000 votes. It’s totally different than going to court with all these ridiculous cases that had been omitted of each courtroom. It’s totally different than in fact sending fake electors. Don’t provide me bullshit and we’ll be friends! Bullshit me? No, we’ll still be friends. However then I’ll think you’re a hack instead of any individual who could actually have an honest dialog and admit this asymmetry exists.

GAETZ: I don’t imagine it’s asymmetrical in any respect. Whilst you look at the best way the Democratic Birthday Party used an authoritarian bum rush to get Joe Biden out of the race and replace him with with Harris, what was it? Was that was once that the great sacrifice to the advantage of democracy and the great rejection of authoritarianism? Was swapping her out for him like in some Mississippi square dance?

MAHER: I’m just going to finish this a part of our discussion by using pronouncing, you already know, I feel you’re just having a look in your eye, talking to you, now not the media guy I noticed. You’re a lot brighter than I thought you had been.
