President Joe Biden took a jab at the Supreme Courtroom on Friday after it struck down his scholar mortgage forgiveness application, declaring the courtroom “misinterpreted the constitution.”
The strongly worded remark got here as Biden used to be wrapping up his remarks asserting new steps to offer relief for debtors within the wake of the choice. As Biden was strolling away from the rostrum a reporter shouted a query, “Did you overstep your authority?”
Biden shot again, “I feel the courtroom misinterpreted the constitution.”
Biden announced in his remarks that the Schooling Department would no longer refer borrowers to credit agencies for 12 months as a way to provide additional relief.
“Today’s decision has closed one direction. Now we’re going to pursue some other. I’m never going to stop combating for you. We’re going to get this achieved, God willing,” he declared.
Supreme Courtroom Justice John Roberts’s opinion on Friday, which ended the student mortgage relief argued that the executive branch lacked the authority to cancel the debt.
