On This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Fox Information anchor Greta van Susteren addressed the GOP’s perspective on American profits inequality by way of asking why the USA didn’t win the Struggle on Poverty the best way Reagan gained the Chilly Warfare.
“In 1965, we started the Conflict on Poverty, and we failed notably,” Susteren stated. “I’d like to peer somebody come in—very similar to Reagan came in and mentioned why don’t we simply win the Cold Warfare—why don’t we simply win the battle on poverty? Why don’t we give you some new ideas? Because whatever we’re doing is failing, so we can’t just maintain repeating what we’re doing.”
“For years of the [War on Poverty], 5, six, seven years, poverty dropped,” countered ABC political analyst and former George W Bush strategist Matthew Dowd, who’s been beating the GOP-populist drum for a couple weeks now. “Then it began rising back up after we went to a fully free market, wealth-created-in-Wall-Boulevard device, and that to me is part of the issue.”
