Consistent with Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Home Depot founder Ken Langone has voiced concerns that Pope Francis’ latest rhetoric about income inequality was causing at the least one excessive-stage donor hesitation.

Langone is involved with Dolan in a $180 million restoration challenge of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York Metropolis, but knowledgeable the cardinal that one possible “seven-determine” donor was sad with the pontiff’s criticism of free markets—comments which have already angered conservative pundits and been referred to as “Marxist” by using Rush Limbaugh.

“I’ve told the cardinal, ‘Your Eminence, this is one more hurdle I am hoping we don’t have to care for,’” Langone said to CNBC. “‘You want to watch out about generalities. Rich individuals in a single u . s . a . don’t act the same as rich individuals in a foreign country.’”

Dolan said Langone approached him recently about the remarks, saying, “You come to us who’ve been blessed, who are wealthy, and but we feel that in all probability the Pope is less captivated with us. We want to correct that.”

Dolan mentioned he responded, “Well, Ken, that will be a misunderstanding of the Holy Father’s message. The pope loves terrible folks. He also loves rich individuals…We’ve gotta make certain this gentleman is familiar with the Holy Father’s message properly. And then I think he’s gonna say, ‘Oh, OK. If that’s the case, rely me in for St. Patrick’s Cathedral.’”

In a separate interview with George Stephanopoulos, Dolan praised Pope Francis for “shattering the caricature” of the Catholic Church.
