Earlier this morning, controversy arose from news that GLAAD issued a observation reacting negatively to the presence of two Fox Information anchors at their latest media awards ceremony. The letter from the group’s VP of communications Wealthy Ferraro slammed Fox’s “embarrassing, biased, and misinformed” protection of LGBT concerns, announcing that if the two anchors — Kimberly Guilfoyle and Jamie Colby — wish to attend future events, their network must first rethink its “abysmal” file on such considerations.
In a written commentary, Ferraro has clarified his remarks, emphasizing that he did not intend to make it appear as if Colby and Guilfoyle themselves are unwelcome at GLAAD events, but rather that the organization took difficulty with the truth that the day after the pair attended the awards ceremony, Fox allowed an anti-gay activist to make terrible claims about homosexuality with none type of pushback.
Full remark beneath:
“My previous observation used to be a response to FOX News’ coverage of LGBT individuals and not any person journalists. A GLAAD govt did invite Kimberly and Jamie to the GLAAD Media Awards, and we had been satisfied to have them, with the belief that they signaled a metamorphosis in the way in which Fox Information would cover LGBT issues.
But the following day, we had a flurry of studies that Fox News let anti-gay activist Tony Perkins make the false and dangerous claim on national television that ‘proof’ displays that being homosexual is ‘overwhelmingly poor to each the person and society.’
It used to be not my intention to offend Kimberly or Jamie. Part of our work at GLAAD is to raise consciousness and visibility of allies from all walks of life, in particular among the many growing selection of conservatives who strengthen LGBT people, and we look ahead to working with voices like Kimberly, Jamie, and any other allies at FOX News to accomplish that.”
