CNN senior political commentator and former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger recommended on Monday that former President Donald Trump is “scared to dying” of his Republican major rival Chris Christie and that Christie would “wipe the ground with him” all through Wednesday’s debate.

Reacting to Trump’s resolution to skip this week’s upcoming Republican primary debate, Kinzinger told CNN host Wolf Blitzer:

If he was once the incumbent running for reelection— you understand if this was 2020, like I get that, however he lost. He lost for the Republicans, the presidency. The Republicans have done nothing but lose given that Donald Trump, and so I believe if he’s gonna ask for his or her vote he needs to come in front of them once more and explain why this time, as a substitute of being a loser, he’ll be a winner. However he’s now not gonna do it.

Kinzinger claimed, “I’m certain, you realize, some political consultants — and they may be right from a textbook standpoint — would say, you know, ‘Don’t go to the talk, there’s no advantage in it,’ but trustworthy to goodness, Wolf, Donald Trump is a coward. He’s scared to dying of Chris Christie as a result of I feel Chris Christie is gonna wipe the floor with him and I think that’s what he’s terrified of.”

The former congressman continued:

After weeks of speculation, Trump confirmed on Sunday that he would not be attending the primary 2024 Republican primary debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, regardless of meeting all the requirements.
