MSNBC host Alex Wagner asked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) if she believes her conversations with Republicans on the Home floor Tuesday may lead them to vote for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries as speaker.
Ocasio-Cortez spoke to Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Each voted against Kevin McCarthy’s bid to turn into Home speaker. I do think that in the case of some of those conversations–listen, some of us within the Home of Representatives are impartial in sure ways from our birthday party. And I do believe that in some of those conversations, there are things which can be taking place on the floor, these machinations are going down on the floor.
And on occasion the leadership of your birthday party – on this case, the Republican Birthday Party – could be making claims in order to try to curve fingers and get individuals in line. And quite a lot of times, information and actuality are currency. And so, every now and then, in an effort to fact-take a look at one of the crucial claims that McCarthy is making, whether Democrats are going to defect or now not.
Ocasio-Cortez said Gosar and Gaetz spoke to her to maintain their birthday party’s management “sincere.”
