Texas Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee died Friday on the age of 74, her domestic announced in a remark launched on the congresswoman’s social media bills just over a month after she revealed her analysis of pancreatic cancer.
“These days, with improbable grief for our loss but deep gratitude for the existence she shared with us, we announce the passing of United States Consultant Sheila Jackson Lee of the 18th Congressional District of Texas,” the remark reads. “A fierce champion of the people, she was affectionately and easily referred to as ‘Congresswoman’ by her components in recognition of her near-ubiquitous presence and repair to their day-to-day lives for greater than 3o years.”

“A neighborhood, nationwide, and global humanitarian, she was once acknowledged global for her courageous fights for racial justice, legal justice, and human rights, with a special emphasis on ladies and children,” it reads. “Her legislative victories impacted thousands and thousands, from organising the Juneteenth Federal Holiday to reauthorizing the Violence In opposition to Ladies Act. However, she impacted us most as our loved spouse, sister, mom, and Bebe (grandmother). She will likely be dearly missed, however her legacy will continue to encourage all who imagine in freedom, justice, and democracy. God bless you Congresswoman and God bless the US of The us.”
