Former senior Trump adviser Steve Bannon was convicted on two counts of contempt of Congress.

A jury lower back the decision on Friday after almost three hours. Bannon faces a minimum of 30 days in prison, reported CNN. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 21.

Bannon was once charged in November with two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to conform to a subpoena issued by using the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault at the U.S. Capitol.

Bannon’s safety did not name any witnesses.

All through closing statements, federal prosecutor Molly Gaston blasted Bannon’s movements, in keeping with CNN.

“His perception that he had an excuse not to comply does no longer subject, that’s not a defense to contempt,” she stated.

Bannon attorney Evan Corcoran tried to blame the trial on politics but was once met with consistent objections from the prosecution, consistent with CNN.

“We come to our affairs of state honestly … no one must … face a prison prosecution … in accordance with politics,” he mentioned.
