‘Breathtakingly Undemocratic’: Kyrsten Sinema Unloads On AOC and Slew of Dems, Mocking Sudden ‘Change of Heart’ on Filibuster

Kyrsten Sinema called out Democrats who were opposed to her support for the Senate filibuster, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

The filibuster debate reignited once more this week amid budget chaos as Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) confronted drive from some Democrats after he backed pushing through the continuing resolution. The filibuster is a procedural rule that forces 60 votes for law to move forward, and it’s something some Democratic lawmakers have long argued against. During this debate, on the other hand, some pushed to make use of the filibuster to stop the CR from being pushed thru.

“ExChange of coronary heart on the filibuster, I see!” Sinema, a former Arizona senator. wrote in line with Ocasio-Cortez pronouncing she felt “outrage and betrayal” over Schumer vote casting to advance the CR.

She also included Ocasio-Cortez’s earlier criticism of Sinema’s give a boost to for the filibuster.

Ocasio-Cortez bit again, pronouncing she has now not modified her place and arguing that the filibuster is still extra used “to dam Dem insurance policies” versus “harmful GOP ones.”

“Nonetheless no. If truth be told, the identical Dems who argue to maintain the filibuster ‘for when we want it’ don’t, in fact, use it when we need it. It’s best used to block Dem policies. Never to dam dangerous GOP one,” she wrote. “May have proved us unsuitable. As a substitute they proved the purpose.”

The previous Democrat also focused Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), the latter of whom referred the filibuster as the “Jim Crow filibuster in a 2024 tweet that Sinema integrated in her message.

“Common take from the Left: If u had eliminated the filibuster & voted for the whole lot that the Left wanted, the threat of the filibuster being used by Rs would by no means happen bc Ds would win each election & have a permanent majority,” Sinema wrote while criticizing Khanna. “What a breathtakingly undemocratic take.”
