Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) introduced his bid for the Home speakership on Friday after Home Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) used to be dropped as the Republican nominee.

In a statement, Donalds announced:

Tonight, I’m saying my candidacy for speaker of the U.S. Home of Representatives. My sole focus shall be securing our border, funding our executive responsibly, advancing a conservative vision for the House of Representatives and the American individuals, and expanding our Republican majority.

As a member of this conference, I’ve considered firsthand the devotion of my colleagues to improving the lives of their parts and the future of America. We come from different walks of life however share the in style pursuit of a more good union. As speaker, every voice in our conference will have a seat at the table to make sure our unity and consensus on the legislative battles we face.
