Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) revealed that California will use taxpayer cash on “felony help, legal advice, criminal strengthen” for migrants dealing with “threats” underneath a Donald Trump administration.
President-pick Trump has vowed to enforce mass deportations for illegal migrants as soon as he takes the oath of place of work next month. California is dwelling to tens of millions of undocumented migrants who can be below risk of deportation, depending on how and if Trump follows through.
All over a Sunday interview on Face The Nation, Padilla advised anchor Major Garrett that California will use state dollars to lend a hand combat against the Trump administration’s efforts to deport migrants.
GARRETT: The governor has referred to as a special session a good way to convene this week to put aside money to battle the Trump administration. Will some of that money even be put aside to give protection to migrants and undocumented immigrants in California as they searching for both criminal recommendation or continued legal financial backing to beef up their efforts to remain within California and the United States?
PADILLA: Sure. Once more, if the first Trump administration is any indicator, we know that there will proceed to be a lot of fear in communities and communities that deserve to grasp what their rights are and what their rights are – are not.
