By way of Aaron Maasho ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – Ethiopia’s state-run Ethio Telecom said on Thursday it had picked Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, the sector’s 2nd largest telecom gear maker, to roll out a high-pace 4G network throughout the capital Addis Ababa. The introduction of the carrier is a component of a $1.6 billion deal signed in July and August between the Ethiopian firm, Huawei and ZTE, China’s second-greatest telecoms tools maker, to increase mobile phone infrastructure right through the Horn of Africa country. “When it comes to allocation, Huawei will be liable for the expansion of 4G in Addis Ababa, together with different cellular services – the 2G, 3G, IP and the like,” Abdurahim Ahmed, Ethio Telecom’s head of communications, told Reuters.
