CNN anchor Chris Wallace grilled filmmaker Quentin Tarantino when it comes to Harvey Weinstein’s years of serial sexual assault, asking him “why didn’t you do extra to check out to prevent him and check out to give protection to the women?”

The most recent interviews from Wallace’s series Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace on HBO Max feature Tarantino, journalist Kara Swisher, and celebrity entertainer Billy Porter.

In a troublesome exchange that used to be previewed, partially, on Friday morning’s adaptation of CNN This Morning, Wallace elicited some soul-looking out from Tarantino relating to his onetime benefactor:

CHRIS WALLACE: I just need to take a turn here. You made most of your films with Harvey Weinstein. And he’s been convicted of rape. He’s now on trial in California on a 2d intercourse crimes case. You heard stories about him over time you’ve said that, why didn’t you do extra to check out to stop him and try to give protection to the women?

QUENTIN TARANTINO: Smartly, I by no means ok. I’d by no means heard the tales that later came out at all. I heard the identical tales that everybody had heard. What I want…. what I want I had carried out used to be talked to Harvey about it and stated, ‘Harvey, that you could’t do that.’

CHRIS WALLACE: Neatly, what did you assume this used to be?

QUENTIN TARANTINO: You understand, frankly, to let you know the truth, I chalked it up to a Mad Men generation version of the boss chasing the secretary around the desk. I’m not announcing that’s ok. However I imply, that’s how…that’s, that’s how… that’s how I kind of heard….that….everything I heard was roughly in that class. And as his friend, I wish I had been more of a chum. And…there used to be no… there used to be never any discuss of rape or anything like that. And the explanation I didn’t was once as a result of that’s an actual hard dialog to have because I…I felt it used to be pathetic. I felt what he was once doing used to be pathetic. And, and I didn’t need to deal with his pathetic-ness.

CHRIS WALLACE: Looking back, do you could have regrets? And the idea… I imply, whilst you say chasing the secretary across the desk, it’s one thing. Clearly, you say you didn’t understand how extreme it was once, but did you suppose it used to be casting sofa type stuff? More or less Hollywood trap?

QUENTIN TARANTINO: I believed it was once the way I described it. The best way I described it to start with. I didn’t suppose it was ‘K, you do that for me otherwise you’re not going to get this movie’. And I never heard any actresses say the rest like that. It was just you already know, you realize, ‘Simply don’t get in the back of a limo with him’ Right? I didn’t recognize the rest that anyone else didn’t know I’m simply the one honest enough to say that seem, you recognize, I had, I had heard some of these – I had heard some of these issues. However now not the things that got here out just literally just the man abusing his situation as a studio head. For probably the most part, like I’ve at all times heard that Louis B. Mayer did and all of the Hollywood moguls did to one stage or another. Again, it used to be easy – it used to be simple – it was once straightforward to compartmentalize it to a point. Anyway, I feel dangerous about…seem to be, I believe unhealthy about it now. But what I…however what I believe unhealthy about is I feel unhealthy that I didn’t have a person to man speak with him about it.
