CNN anchor Chris Wallace took facets against Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AK) over her “shaming” of Vice President Kamala Harris, agreeing with the VP’s response to a jab about having children.
At a Trump rally/”city corridor” event in Flint, Michigan, final month, Trump Sanders (R-AK) took a shot at Harris for now not having biological children — Harris is stepmom to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff’s two youngsters.
“So, my youngsters keep me humble. Sadly, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble,” Sanders mentioned.
VP Harris replied to the jab in an interview that dropped on this week’s model of the Name Her Daddy podcast, pronouncing partially that “Family comes in many types and I feel that increasingly more, each person keep in mind that this isn’t the 1950’s anymore. Households come in all shapes or varieties and they’re domestic on the other hand.”
On Monday morning’s model of CNN This Morning,
KASIE HUNT: In a commentary to Politico this weekend, Governor Sanders stated this, quote, “I’d never criticize a woman for now not having kids. The purpose I was making and that Kamala Harris demonstrated with the aid of her own admission, is that she doesn’t consider our leaders should be humble.”.
K. Chris Wallace, that is, this difficulty of youngsters. I mean, the childless cat ladies, it has began to permeate this campaign.
You and I’ve talked quite a bit about masculinity, femininity and the way all of that can be swirling thru this marketing campaign. How do you suppose Kamala Harris treated this? Since the reality is there are so many American voters who don’t have families that appear to be, you realize, mom, dad married for 30 years.
CHRIS WALLACE: Neatly, you realize, you used an expression for your lead-in, Modern Household, which, of course, was once the identify of an extraordinarily, very talked-about sitcom. And there there have been all varieties of families and and a similar intercourse couple that had children and different couples.
And in in America in 2024, they do come in all styles and sizes. And there are blended families and oldsters and stepparents.
And, you understand, the idea of shaming any individual as a result of she didn’t have children the old school manner, she has stepchildren, it appears to me, is really out of contact with the place the united states of america is now and now not something that the Republican Party will have to pursue.
