A conservative author torched the Republican Birthday Celebration for normalizing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) over the path of the House Speaker struggle.

Columnist Mona Charen, writing in The Bulwark, lamented that Green has long gone from being described as a “cancer” on the GOP by way of Mitch McConnell to being considered as instrumental in helping institution figure Kevin McCarthy defeat the perimeter of the celebration and win the speakership.

Charen took goal at Fox Information host Howard Kurtz, who she accused of whitewashing Greene’s sins during an interview on Sunday.

Kurtz did ask Greene about her belief in QAnon. Greene herself has claimed there is a “global cabal of Devil-worshipping pedophiles” that must be taken “out.”

But Kurtz framed the query as a criticism of Democrats. Per Charen:

Kurtz next advanced to the touchy matter of Greene’s bat-guano views, but offered it this fashion: “Simply to maintain one bit of history, the Democrats stripped you of committee assignments—which was once raw politics.”

No, in fact, it used to be civic hygiene. It was once what the GOP would have finished itself if it retained a shred of integrity.

Kurtz endured: “But in fairness, didn’t you say around that point that you just’d been a follower of QAnon conspiracy concept and you had rethought this and you have been no longer influenced through the team?”

Greene blamed these comments on past views she no longer holds, claiming they had been “up to now previously.” As Charen factors out, her QAnon feedback have been made simply a couple of years ago, and within the years when you consider that she has spoken at the convention of white supremacist Nick Fuentes, amongst different circumstances of lunacy.

Charen concludes:

She has a disordered persona. As a grown adult, she chased a teen who had survived the Parkland college capturing down the street, harassing and berating him. She is drawn to hatred as a moth to a flame. She is the poison that classes during the veins of parts of the right—the vicious, fact-challenged right. If she is to be normalized with the aid of the GOP, it’s the birthday party, not she, that’s changed.

No faster did McCarthy succeed in election on Friday evening than Greene rushed to his facet. They posed for a grinning picture. It was once his first act as speaker.
