Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) introduced an authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) that might allow President Joe Biden to order U.S. forces into Mexico to prevent drug cartels, whether Mexico needs them there or not.

He filed the law remaining week and spoke about it with Neil Cavuto on Thursday’s Your World on Fox Information. Crenshaw said the proliferation of fentanyl requires a substantial government response.

“This is not a drug drawback,” Crenshaw mentioned. “This isn’t a conflict on drugs drawback. This is a poisoning drawback. And they are killing about 80,000 Americans a 12 months. The Mexican govt does little or no to thwart this.”

He stated if handed, the AUMF would provide Biden the leverage to get Mexico to act against the cartels.

“These individuals are well-geared up,” he mentioned. “And so they’re extraordinarily dangerous.”

“I’m wondering what would Mexico call to mind American troops on the border,” Cavuto said. “They might interpret it differently.”

“Neatly, we always had trouble getting the Mexican government to work with us,” Crenshaw answered. “You evaluate it to Colombia. We’ve been dealing with Colombia for many years. The united states was very involved all over the ’90s and the cartel wars there and then all the way through the guerrilla wars. We called it Plan Colombia and it used to be a very a success operation.”

The congressman stated Mexico has been averse to U.S. involvement.

“Their resistance will not be best hurting them, it’s killing our electorate,” he persevered. “And that’s when we’ve to claim, ‘Enough is enough. You’re gonna cooperate with us. We now have an AUMF here. We’ve given the president defense force authority now. And so, you higher work with us as a result of we don’t wish to do this with out you, but we can.’”
