Dan Goldman Accuses Trump Press Secretary of ‘Very Similar’ Behavior to George Santos, Demands Republicans Investigate

Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) accused Trump White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt of performing like disgraced Rep. George Santos (R-NY) in how she reportedly treated her congressional marketing campaign’s budget.

Prior in the week, Goldman reacted to a submit on X from NOTUS that read, “On Thursday, Karoline Leavitt’s failed congressional marketing campaign amended every FEC filing it had ever made to disclose that she didn’t reveal tons of of heaps of bucks in excessive contributions that she never paid again, in violation of the legislation.”

NOTUS, an upstart newsroom based through the made from the Allbritton Journalism Institute, took a deep dive last week into Leavitt’s amended marketing campaign filings from her failed 2022 run for Congress in New Hampshire.

Goldman, a former federal prosecutor, shared the record and delivered, “That is similar to what George Santos did, and he’s about to head to penitentiary.”

“Any nonpartisan Justice Dept would aggressively check out this, like Biden’s DOJ did with Menendez and Adams,” relating to the now-convicted former Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and NYC Mayor Eric Adams, who’s going through quite a lot of corruption fees.

“If Trump’s DOJ does not look at these allegations, it’s simply bc of partisanship,” Goldman brought.

NOTUS’s Claire Heddles pronounced on Leavitt’s new campaign filings, which revealed that “her unsuccessful 2022 congressional campaign owes more than $300,000 in unpaid money owed, with Leavitt failing to expose for years that her marketing campaign took in hundreds of hundreds of dollars in inappropriate donations and never paid the money back.” The file added:

The vast majority of that debt, about $200,000, is owed as refunds to contributors who appear to have donated above the felony limits. Those excessive contributions went unreported for years — until Thursday — when Leavitt’s campaign amended every campaign submitting she had ever made with the Federal Election Fee.

Santos, who was a family title for his well-documented lying, pleaded guilty to 2 fraud expenses in August after being initially indicted on thirteen more than a few counts. NBC News pronounced at the time “Prosecutors accused Santos, a New York Republican, of ‘stealing individuals’s identities and making charges on his own donors’ bank cards with out their authorization, mendacity to the FEC and, by using extension, the general public about the financial state of his campaign.’”
