There are a number of “unwritten principles” of baseball, no longer all of which are just right ones. But one who enjoys close to-universal agreement is that this: you merely cannot take away a pitcher whereas he’s throwing a super game.
But that’s exactly what Dodgers supervisor Dave Roberts did to Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday afternoon.
To say Kershaw was cruising against the Twins lineup in Minnesota is an understatement. Thru seven innings, he fanned thirteen batters and had now not allowed a baserunner while throwing simply eighty pitches.
After Kershaw brought on a groundout to finish the seventh, he back to the dugout. Instead of conserving with the abnormal tradition of not talking to pitchers with ongoing no-nos, Kershaw’s teammates congratulated him for his efficiency. And with that, he was once achieved.
