Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis snorted as a reporter asked about Vice President Kamala Harris slamming his state’s new Black history curriculum educating the “advantages” of slavery to enslaved folks, defending the standard by using explaining some enslaved individuals “parlayed” the abilities they learned “later in existence.”

The Florida Board of Education voted Wednesday to approve a curriculum on Black history that features teaching that “slaves developed abilities which, in some cases, could be applied for his or her personal benefit” and requires educating “acts of violence perpetrated against and by means of African American citizens.”

Vice President Kamala Harris torched the brand new curriculum in two speeches on consecutive days, and on Friday DeSantis used to be asked to reply while at a press conference beforehand of a marketing campaign event in Salt Lake Metropolis, Utah.
