Former White House chief clinical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump bought the theory to treat Covid-19 with hydroxychloroquine from Fox Information host Laura Ingraham.

Chatting with MSNBC host Ari Melber about his relationship with Trump during his time as probably the most lead participants of the Coronavirus Task Pressure, Fauci confessed:

I felt very uncomfortable when he used to be pronouncing it was going to vanish like magic, it’s just going to leave as a result of he so desperately wanted it to vanish the best way flu disappears as you enter the end of the wintry weather and the beginning of the spring. And that’s after I needed to publicly stand up, which used to be very uncomfortable for me. I was not happy about criticizing the president or disagreeing with the president. I mentioned, “No, it’s now not going to vanish like magic at all.” And when that became clear, that’s when we began speaking about hydroxychloroquine, which also used to be something that had no basis in science.

He persisted, “He would begin pronouncing things, , ‘I care about you, I such as you, I really like you,’ however then he would start screaming at me, which, you already know, it’s no longer enjoyable being yelled at by the president of the US. That was once just a little unnerving. But I had to continue to tell the truth. And he stated, ‘Why do you keep doing this to me?’ As a result of it’s the reality. I’m telling the American public the info. Hydroxychloroquine doesn’t work.”

On the source of Trump’s obsession with hydroxychloroquine, Fauci said:

I believe he needed so badly for this to go away the best way influenza goes away, and when he saw it was once no longer going away, then he used to be hoping for some magical answer, and he even used those phrases, “It’s going to leave like magic.” And then when that didn’t work, then we needed to have these miracle remedies like hydroxychloroquine, which he bought from Laura Ingraham on Fox Information.

Ingraham was once one among many hosts and personalities on Fox News who promoted hydroxychloroquine all over the pandemic despite warnings from clinical officials that there was little proof the drug could treat Covid-19.

During the pandemic, Trump many times promoted the antimalarial drug as a “cure” for Covid-19, and even used it himself so that you can maintain the virus at bay.

In January, then again, a scientific study published there used to be an 11% raise in mortality charge amongst folks who used the drug to deal with Covid-19. The drug was once linked to almost 17,000 deaths across six nations.
