California Governor Gavin Newsom described the 2d Republican major debate on Wednesday as “perhaps a vice presidential debate” at best and argued the candidates have been being “lapped” through former President Donald Trump, who was once now not in attendance.

Talking to reporters beforehand of the debate, Newsom said, “I think it will be clear that Trump comes out the dominant power after this debate. I imply, this is the XFL, that is JV.”

He persevered:

Honestly, I imply, this is maybe, possibly, a vice presidential debate. These guys have become lapped by Donald Trump.
