Lawyer and conservative political pundit George Conway predicted that defendant Donald Trump might not be unanimously acquitted in his hush cash trial once jurors get the case next week.
Conway, who is a vocal critic of Trump, told MSNBC’s Katie Phang Saturday that there’s just an excessive amount of proof against the former president for 12 jurors to find him no longer guilty on all 34 prison counts of trade fraud and election interference.
“All the testimony that we’ve heard just has Trump neck-deep in all of this,” Conway mentioned. “And it’s going to be laborious for the jury to not conclude that he didn’t result in all of this. And it’s going to be exhausting for the jury not to conclude that the aim of it was once to aid the election campaign, wherein case, it was once a marketing campaign finance violation.” Conway persevered:
So, the safety has its work cut out for it. However the entire protection has to do is convince one juror to hold the crew. I don’t assume they are able to get an acquittal. I don’t think they’re going to get 12 votes unanimously to acquit him. I think their easiest shot, and that’s what they’re gonna do, is hope that there’s just a few person on the jury who just refuses to convict. And I think that’s going to be truly, in point of fact hard, with Trump having signed eight of these checks. And, also, the makes an attempt — so much other proof — But the attempts to mainly conceal it all. I’m not certain how an excellent result, rather then a good fortune of the draw mistrial on a hung jury — eleven to 1, or 10 to 2 — I don’t see a excellent consequence for Donald Trump from this.
Closing arguments are set to begin on Tuesday, with the protection going first, followed via the prosecution.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to expenses he paid $one hundred thirty,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about an alleged affair ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
