Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) made completely clear this week that he’s going to still now not be vote casting for President Donald Trump, despite the previous president having secured sufficient delegates to be his celebration’s presidential nominee.
“I won’t be vote casting for Biden. I also received’t be vote casting for Trump,” Young instructed a local Indiana reporter on Monday.
“So, does that mean I leave it clean? Does that imply I determine another conservative who’s almost certain not to be the next president of the US and write them in? I haven’t decided that, and I believe that’s a largely unimportant level. I don’t be aware of who goes in that line, if any person,” Young delivered.
Younger, a conservative member of the GOP, voted in opposition to impeaching Trump in 2020 after the January sixth assault on the U.S. Capitol, however has publicly denounced Trump’s debunked election fraud claims and anti-Ukraine posturing all the way through the brutal Russian invasion. Young stated earlier within the month that he would not reinforce Trump in 2024 because of his place on Ukraine.
Young stated that his refusal to strengthen both candidate might “reward one individual at the fee of the other.”
“My response is, someday, principled conservatives wish to incentivize our celebration, the Republican Party, to appoint anyone that principled conservatives can in reality consider in. Stated differently, I’m tired of having my vote taken without any consideration. I think quite a lot of Hoosiers are,” Younger delivered.
