There were blended reactions to the decision through former President Donald Trump to skip the first GOP presidential primary debate (and presumably all of them), but even Republicans are calling it a bad transfer.

On Monday, former Trump press secretary and present Fox Information host Kayleigh McEnany said Trump refusing to debate was once “a huge political miscalculation.” The same day, on CNN’s The Scenario Room with Wolf Blitzer, Republican strategist Alice Stewart echoed the comment calling the decision “a huge political insult.” Stewart told host Wolf Blitzer:

Appear, it’s a big political insult to Republican voters for him not to participate, as well as to the Republican Birthday Party. Voters should have a wholesome and robust primary, hearing from the entire candidates on where they stand on the problems, how they contrast with their fellow candidates, and the way their imaginative and prescient can lend a hand take out President [Joe] Biden. And he’s lacking a possibility. That being mentioned, with a lead like this, I will be aware why his marketing campaign is finding out for him no longer to do so.

Then Stewart brought up a different perspective on Trump’s ballot numbers that made the focal point on his opponents a little bit extra attention-grabbing:

But it’s incumbent upon the Republican Birthday Party … to coalesce behind any person that can take out Donald Trump. He has forty% of Republican voters. That means 60 percent of Republican voters are in search of any person else. So the sooner that the Republicans can narrow the sphere and coalesce in the back of one person to take out Donald Trump, the better possibility we have for a candidate that may in reality win in a normal election in opposition to the president.
