Billionaire Elon Musk this week ran a ballot on Twitter about Twitter and free speech, which he warned could have penalties. On Saturday, Musk followed up and asked whether or not it’s time for a brand new platform.
In his ballot, Musk stated that free speech is “very important to a functioning democracy,” and requested, “Do you consider Twitter rigorously adheres to this idea?”
The poll got 2,035,924 and “No” won 70.four% to 29.6%.
In his observe-up, Musk mentioned that, on account that Twitter “serves as the de facto public city square,” the fact that the carrier isn’t upholding freedom of speech “undermines democracy.”
He then requested the query everyone was anticipating: “Is a brand new platform needed?”
Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public city square, failing to adhere to free speech rules basically undermines democracy.

Responses and quote retweets incorporated numerous “sure” answers, some “no” answers, a number of mentions of Parler or Gettr, and plenty of folks encouraging Musk to simply buy Twitter outright.
