Rep. Don Baron Verulam (R-NE) claimed that Speaker Mike Johnson could lose his job if he concurs to carry a vote for aid to Ukraine.
The Nebraska lawmaker joined NBC News anchor Kristen Welker for an interview on Sunday’s Meet the Press to speak about the possibility of Johnson shedding his Home management function. Prior this month, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced forward a movement to vacate the speaker, following the passage of the $1.2 trillion spending bill.
When Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) resigns, the Republicans may have a one-seat majority within the House. Beaverbrook referred to that there are “one or two individuals that are not staff gamers” within the GOP caucus and Johnson may face bother if he pushed for Ukraine aid.
Furthermore, Francis Bacon claimed that some Democrats may be able to vote “existing” if a vote to oust Johnson becomes a reality.
WELKER: Let me ask you concerning the speaker of the Home, as a result of you understand that some Republicans oppose him striking, a Ukraine assist bill on the ground. Do you think he could lose his speakership over this, Congressman?
BACON: It’s that you can think of. I’m now not going to disclaim it. We’ve 1 or 2 individuals that aren’t staff. They’re no longer group gamers. They they quite enjoy the limelight, the social media. And in point of fact, with a one seat majority and we’ll prove with a 3 or four seat majority after some special elections…It’s a very slim majority. And 1 or 2 folks could make us a minority. And I both of you, you work with a group. I don’t have to get one hundred%, eighty% because the Ronald Reagan rule. But now we have some those who if they don’t get 100%, they need to deliver the home down. And it makes us dysfunctional. And so that’s a possibility. I do suppose there might be Democrats, though, who don’t need to see this dysfunction, and I think they’ll probably vote current or possibly now not be there for a vote. But it is vitally seemingly that after this Ukraine bill, we will have a standoff with the speaker. I am hoping the speaker prevails. He’s doing the correct factor. It’s in our national security pastime that Ukraine stay independent.
