Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) instructed ABC’s This Week that the House committee investigating the January sixth revolt on the U.S. Capitol has firsthand testimony related to Republican leaders and participants of Donald Trump’s family, including his daughter Ivanka, pleading with the previous president to step in and end the violence on that day.
“We all know his daughter — we’ve firsthand testimony that his daughter Ivanka went in at the least twice to ask him to ‘please cease this violence,’” Cheney said Sunday.
Bob Woodward and Robert Costa prior to now pronounced on Ivanka Trump’s attempts to intervene on Jan. 6th. “Let this factor go,” she reportedly instructed him. “Let it go,” she stated, according to their book Peril.
“The committee has firsthand testimony now that he used to be sitting within the eating room subsequent to the Oval Place of job watching the attack on television because the assault on the Capitol passed off,” Cheney informed ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
“We know, as you already know smartly, that the briefing room on the White House is just a mere few steps from the Oval Office. The president can have at any second walked these only a few steps into the briefing room, gone on live television and told his supporters who were assaulting the Capitol to forestall,” she added.
Cheney also named Republican House chief Kevin McCarthy as somebody who reached out to Trump and requested him to stop his supporters from continuing to assault the Capitol.
Cheney concluded that “any man who would provoke a violent assault on the Capitol to forestall the counting of electoral votes, any man who would watch television as law enforcement officials have been being overwhelmed, as his supporters were invading the Capitol of america, is naturally unfit for future workplace, evidently can never be anyplace close to the Oval Place of job ever once more.”
