Prosecutors were hesitant to share who will testify in what order throughout former President Donald Trump’s prison trial in New York — citing issues that Trump will attack their witnesses on social media. But on the eve of the trial’s begin, The New York Occasions has realized who will kick off the court cases.
The Occasions is reporting that David Pecker — the previous National Enquirer publisher whose tabloid engaged in so-known as “seize and kill” practices to bury poor tales about Trump — will be first to take the stand after opening arguments are introduced.
The case centers on hush cash payouts to Stormy Daniels — which prosecutors will contend was an act of election interference. In his testimony, in step with Occasions reporters Ben Protess and John Bromwich, Pecker “is predicted to recount for the jury a couple of conversations with Mr. Trump about the hush money, in line with a person accustomed to the plan.”
A gag order imposed on Trump bars him from attacking witnesses in the case, however prosecutors are involved the former president will go after them anyway. Trump has time and again railed against the gag order, including in a put up on his Actuality Social platform moments after the Instances file used to be revealed.
“REMOVE THE GAG ORDER!!!” Trump wrote. “WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO HIDE???”
