Jamal Simmons, Vice President Kamala Harris’ new communications director, issued an apology on Friday after controversial tweets resurfaced through which he requested why federal immigration authorities were not arresting undocumented staff who have been being interviewed on MSNBC.
In the 2010 tweet, Simmons wrote, “Simply saw 2 undocumented folks talking on MSNBC. One Regulation pupil the opposite a protester. Can anyone explain why ICE will not be selecting them up?”
He later doubled down pronouncing, “I’ll try this once more: Simply saw 2 undocumented folks speaking on MSNBC and have a significant criminal query. Why wouldn’t ICE choose them up?”
After the tweets began circulating on-line and had been picked up, along with other unflattering tweets, through Fox Information, Simmons launched a remark to Politico’s Alex Thompson:
“As a pundit for far of my occupation I’ve tweeted so much and spoken out on public considerations. On occasion I have been sarcastic, doubtful, or just it appears that evidently missed the mark. Fox Information also suggested on Simmons’ feedback ridiculing then-candidate Joe Biden.
