On Tuesday, Virginia Lawyer General Ken Cucinnelli misplaced his race to develop into his state’s next governor to former Democratic National Committee Chair Terry McAuliffe. On Thursday, Cucinnelli former chief political strategist Chris LaCivita blamed his candidate’s defeat on the federal government shutdown which prevented the campaign from specializing in the roll-out of the Inexpensive Care Act in early October.

“It moved the disaster of Obamacare away from our narrative,” LaCivita advised National Review reporter Robert Costa. “It sucked the oxygen out of the room. As a substitute of speaking about Obamacare, we were talking concerning the shutdown.”

“It used to be this perfect storm of situations that hurt us,” LaCivita says. “We had been making ready to make use of the October 1 begin of Obamacare as the center of our technique, and then it was once just taken off the table. Once the shutdown ended, we worked hard to maximize what we could.”

LaCivita avoided blaming the Republican Celebration’s committees or GOP “energy brokers” for the Cucinnelli campaign’s loss.
