MSNBC host Alicia Menendez addressed the indictment of her father, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) Saturday night, telling her target audience she was once not going to comment on the case, but anticipated her colleagues to continue to “aggressively” duvet the story.
On Sept. 22, the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace for the Southern District of New York introduced the indictment of Sen. Menendez, his spouse Nadine Menendez, and three New Jersey businessmen on prices associated to a bribery scheme allegedly designed to learn the federal government of Egypt.
The indictment included numerous salacious important points, together with accusations that the Menendezes were given cash that was used to pay for a Mercedes-Benz convertible, and that authorities seized gold bars and cash stuffed into the pockets of a jacket emblazoned with Sen. Menendez’s title from the couple’s residence.
In the days following the indictment, former Speaker of the Home Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D), top leaders inside the New Jersey Democratic Birthday Celebration, and a growing list of distinguished Democratic senators have called for Menendez to resign. Despite this, Sen. Menendez has remained defiant, denying the allegations towards him and making a commentary during which he insisted he would be “exonerated” and stated he had no intention to resign.

Hey everybody, I’m Alicia Menendez. Welcome to American Voices. We now have a lot to get to tonight, but I want to begin on a personal note.
Last week, a grand jury indicted U.S. Senator Bob Menendez. This prior week, dozens of contributors of his own birthday celebration have demanded his resignation. I have been watching, along with all of you, as a citizen and likewise as his daughter. I might not be reporting on the prison case.
That stated, my colleagues throughout MSNBC and NBC News, they have aggressively lined the story, and so they’ll proceed to do so, as they must.
