It’s virtually time for the House of Representatives to choose a Speaker — again! Now that Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been ousted, Home Republicans might be choosing a brand new leader. And some staffers at Fox News are having painful flashbacks of the extended battle that came about just this previous January when it took 15 ground votes to elect McCarthy.
Fox Information senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram mentioned on the race for speaker and reminded America Experiences host John Roberts that the final vote took slightly longer than ordinary, and Roberts (amusingly) expressed some dread of a repeat of January:
Pergram: Now, it took 5 days and 15 rounds to decide on Kevin McCarthy as speaker in January. The GOP believes those raucous complaints have been a bad seem to be, so the GOP hopes to curb the dangerous optics by not fighting on the floor until there’s a transparent winner. John?
Roberts: All right. Subsequent Wednesday goes to be a captivating day —
Pergram: And Thursday, and Friday —
Roberts: No! Chad!
Pergram: — And perhaps Saturday —
Roberts: No, no, no, don’t say it, don’t say it! Wednesday goes to be an enchanting day, Chad. Let’s begin there. All proper. Thanks, Sandra?
Sandra Smith: And day by day in between!
