Steve Bannon will not be serving his four-month sentence at a minimal security “Club Fed” federal prison, in step with CNN.
The podcast host and former Donald Trump adviser used to be convicted of contempt of Congress after he defied a subpoena issued through the Home Jan. 6 choose committee. Last week, a judge ordered Bannon to report to jail on July 1 to serve his sentence.
It seems that the jail would be the Federal Correctional Establishment in Danbury, Connecticut. The power is a low-safety jail, versus a minimum-security prison – or a “Club Fed,” as minimum-security services are from time to time known as.
CNN’s Katelyn Polantz broke the story on Monday night and regarded on OutFront.
“Katelyn, I mean, this is a significant construction,” host Erin Burnett said. “Under no circumstances what Bannon used to be hoping for, or frankly, appeared to be expecting?”
“No, by no means what Steve Bannon was looking here,” Polantz spoke back. “He had expected – and his attorneys had expected – that, he’s non-violent, he had no longer had any prior convictions. And so, possibly he would go to a prison camp, very minimal security in the federal gadget. That’s not what’s happening.”
Polantz added,
So, he’s at the back of The Wall, is what they call it. It’s totally different than a camp. It has more confines for the inmates that are saved there. Also, violent offenders can also be saved in a low-safety prison just like the one Bannon is going to be reporting to in only a couple weeks in Danbury, Connecticut.
She went on to claim that issues are being sophisticated via the truth that Bannon will go on trial in September for allegedly defrauding donors as a part of his We Build The Wall campaign. Trump pardoned Bannon, liberating him of federal costs in the case. Then again, presidents can not pardon folks who face state costs.
Polantz stated that Bannon may very well be transferred to the infamous Rikers Island detention center whereas he is on trial.
