California Governor Gavin Newsom shot Chuck Todd down in no unsure phrases when Todd asked if he’d ever run in opposition to Vice President Kamala Harris.

There has been heightened media chatter about finding a substitute for President Joe Biden due to his age, as well as Republican assaults on VP Harris.

In a preview of an interview so one can air on this week’s edition of NBC’s Meet the Press, Todd asked Newsom about the probabilities he’d mount a presidential run in 2024, and Newsom replied that although Biden were to bow out, Harris may be the pure possibility.

Todd additionally requested about Newsom’s relationship with the VP, and whether he would ever run in an election in opposition to her:

CHUCK TODD: And am I purported to interpret that comment in regards to the vice president that if for some cause the president chose not to run at this point –

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: Well it’s the natural –

CHUCK TODD: – each person rallies round her?

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: It’s the Biden-Harris administration. Maybe I’m a little oldschool –

CHUCK TODD: And you appreciate that?

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: Perhaps I’m just a little old skool about, you realize, presidents and vice presidents. I used to be a lieutenant governor, so I’m a bit of subjective.

CHUCK TODD: Your relationship with the vp. // Describe your relationship with her.

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: We knew each other earlier than we were both in politics. The day I bought sworn in as mayor, walked throughout the road, she acquired sworn in as district attorney. Terribly close working relationship, including her time in the Senate, my time up here.

CHUCK TODD: that You could’t imagine ever having to run against each other?

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: After all no longer. Through definition. Gained’t occur. But we’ve – I’ve said that 1,000 instances. We privately proceed to handle a very good relationship, interpersonal. Just, “How are you doing? Checking in.” It’s been a challenging few years with Covid. And we’ve had the opportunity to take a seat down, have lunch collectively within the White Home, spend time talking about necessary issues.

CHUCK TODD: So nobody’s upset?

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: and trivial issues.

CHUCK TODD: She’s no longer upset that you’re going to debate Ron DeSantis?

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: Maybe. Apparently someone in her place of business is, as a result of I read some off-the-record quotes. I wish I knew who that was once. But I don’t hear it from her so – and I’m under no circumstances listening to it from the White House itself.
