Pro-Palestine protestors crashed the start of Tom Suozzi’s victory speech on Tuesday shortly after he flipped the seat formerly held via Rep. George Santos (R-NY) in New York’s 1/3 congressional district. The Democrat defeated Nassau County legislator Mazi Pilip.

Suozzi previously held the congressional seat for six years but declined to run for reelection in 2022 when he launched an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.

Upon reclaiming the seat, Suozzi started addressing a raucous crowd of supporters in Woodbury, New York when he used to be interrupted by means of protestors.

The group chanted, “Suozzi!” again and again, prompting him to crack, “Let me simply enjoy this for yet one more minute, ok?”

As the group kept chanting, an individual holding up a Palestinian flag approached Suozzi on stage.

“That You can’t disguise!” the person shouted. “You’re aiding genocide! Stop helping genocide!”

The group chanted Suozzi’s name again to drown out the protestors, who have been removed from the venue.
