Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) condemned Tucker Carlson on Thursday for making a video gushing over a Russian grocery retailer, remarking, “The Soviets had a term for people like Tucker: useful idiots.”

During his controversial shuttle to Moscow to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin, Carlson filmed a short video at a Russian grocery store, the place he praised the costs and quality of produce.

Tillis lashed out at Carlson’s video on social media, accusing the former Fox News host of being a “useful fool.”

“Ah yes, Russia is so significantly better than the U.S. with all those low cost groceries and extravagant subway stations!” he wrote. “The Soviets had a time period for people like Tucker: helpful idiots.”

In recent weeks, Carlson has launched a sequence of videos juxtaposing lifestyles in Moscow to life in cities back dwelling in the United States.

In a single video, Carlson when compared the world favourite Moscow Metro and its extremely-adorned, Soviet-era stations to run-down stations in New York City.

Putin complained on Wednesday that Carlson went too soft on him right through their controversial interview and claimed he “didn’t get full delight” from the encounter.
