Conservative radio host Mike Slater likened suspended Duck Dynasty superstar Phil Robertson to Martin Luther King, Jr. on Fox’s America’s Newsroom Thursday morning, linking the non secular supply of their views on homosexuality and asking if liberal panelist Richard Fowler subsequently hated King as smartly.

“In 1958, a young boy wrote a preacher a letter saying he used to be suffering from homosexuality,” Slater started. “And this preacher wrote again, asserting, ‘Son, don’t problem, there may be a strategy to your downside.’ And that preacher was Martin Lurther King, Jr. Richard, do you hate Martin Luther King, Jr.?”

“That stretch is far too far,” Fowler spoke back. “It’s an entire straw man. Past that, this GQ interview was once loaded with hatred. It is not best his discuss homosexuality. He goes on to talk about how African-Americans had been doing pretty well throughout Jim Crow. This man’s language on this interview was as soon as so absurd that there was once as soon as no manner A&E to even preserve him on the show with out some public backlash from the American people.”

This used to be the 2nd time during the prior month Slater has invoked MLK in safety of a conservative position. On the same application three weeks up to now he paraphrased a line from Letter From the Birmingham Prison to argue that the civil rights leader would have opposed the earnings redistribution factors of the Cheaper Care Act—which caused panelist Leslie Marshall to inform him that his remark would leave King “rolling over in his grave.”
