For the 1/3 week in a row, legendary journalist Carl Bernstein bought under the pores and skin of Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough Wednesday morning through framing the current GOP infighting over the government shutdown as an epochal political second rather than a dispute over tactics, and Scarborough confirmed indicators that his persistence was once carrying thin.*
“This is an moral question,” Bernstein posited. “The ethical problem just isn’t Obamacare. The ethical problem is permitting the US, our very material of our being, our governmental device, our price range, to be absolutely obliterated. now We have been affected terribly by way of this experience. That is watershed.”
“I sat here and listened to you along with your ethical lecturing last time. No, it is a combat over techniques,” Scarborough mentioned. “I disagree of the ways of how we get there. I think we should be smarter. It’s no longer a moral problem. It’s like Nicolle Wallace stated: let’s no longer have a debate over whether or not the conservative party or the moderate party. Let simply cease being the stupid birthday celebration.”

“If i’m now not mistaken, the stock market continues to be doing lovely well,” Scarborough persevered. “We’re at 15,000, Carl, and you’re appearing like locusts have descended from heavens and have eaten the flesh off of every American. Listen, that 15,000? It’ll crash. The markets will crash, more American citizens can be hurt than have already been harm if this goes on for per week or two or three. However we’re now not there but.”
“This can be a continuum that has been happening for years with this president,” Bernstein stated. “Let’s go back to George Bush’s election. Let’s see how the Democrats took George Bush’s election and the Supreme Court decision and recognized his legitimacy as president. After which let’s have a look at what took place with Sarah Palin and the 9 leaders of the birthday party, who on Inauguration Day said we are going to minimize this man’s legs off. How did this happen? ”
“Democrats called him a Nazi for eight years,” Scarborough mentioned. “If I had a buck for each time I heard a Democrat say that George Bush has shredded the Structure for doing related precise factor that Barack Obama continues to, do smartly, I might have as much cash as [Morning Joe co-host] Willie Geist.”
* Common viewers will observe the absence of McCarthy references. So much for my drinking game.
