CNN unique correspondent Jamie Gangel instructed CNN commentator Scott Jennings the genuine reason why Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro was once not picked as Vice President Kamala Harris’s working mate on Tuesday after Jennings urged it was due to anti-Semitism.
After Harris announced on Tuesday that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz would serve as her 2024 operating mate, Jennings – a former staffer for President George W. Bush – claimed on CNN that Harris couldn’t choose Shapiro “because the birthday celebration is reasonably awash in anti-Semitism.”
“Kamala Harris completely bowed down to the unconventional left in her birthday celebration by no longer picking Shapiro, who is Jewish. There used to be a foul campaign run towards him,” he stated. “All and sundry is aware of it, no one wants to admit it, but every person knows it, and she wound up choosing the one that used to be not Jewish and now not as proficient.”
A couple of minutes later, as Jennings tried to interrupt former Obama senior adviser David Axelrod, who rejected Jennings’ statement, Gangel raised her hand and protested:
Scott, Scott, Scott. One second, take the beat. I feel it’s necessary to add to that two issues that we have from our reporting. One is that even going into this selection, Josh Shapiro had some, let’s simply say, hesitancy or questions about whether or not he needed to be the quantity two. You can also remember the fact that three weeks ago, there were a lot of people who weren’t sure that Kamala Harris was going to be probably the most exciting ticket. It feels very totally different now, and he’s any person who for sure has ambitions to run and he used to be having a look at down the street.
And we now have new reporting tonight from our team that, if truth be told, when he went into his vetting assembly and in addition in his in-individual assembly with Harris, he made it very clear what sort of vice president he needed this to be. It used to be way more of a two for the associated fee of 1. He wants to be within the room. He wished to have a real say in this stuff.
Gangel concluded, “There are sources we’ve talked to who feel that in those conferences, Shapiro form of set the stage to not be picked as her number two.”
