An interview with the sheriff of Oakland County, Michigan got a little bit testy on Friday after Don Lemon repeatedly pressed him on why the fugitive folks of Ethan Crumbley aren’t in custody after they had been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors charged Crumbley, who is in custody, with 4 counts of first level homicide in reference to the lethal shooting that befell at Oxford Excessive Faculty on Tuesday. His oldsters, James Crumbley and Jennifer Crumbley, have been charged after prosecutors say they failed to steady the gun their son allegedly used all the way through the capturing. But authorities stated they’ve been unable to find the fogeys, who have been declared fugitives.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard informed Lemon his department received no notice from prosecutor Karen McDonald that she used to be bringing costs in opposition to the oldsters. Instead, Bouchard says, he found out the they were being charged from the media.

All over the interview, Lemon pressed the sheriff as to why the Crumbleys aren’t in custody.

“I’m being tricky on you with these questions as a result of I simply don’t take into account, whether or not the the prosecutor stated it or no longer,” stated Lemon. “I simply don’t see how a case this giant and this vital, rapidly the oldsters are missing.”

The CNN host referred to a report that the Crumbleys had “run off” with $4,000 they’d withdrawn from a financial institution.

right Here’s how the rest of the exchange went:

BOUCHARD: Neatly, I’m now not sure who reported the $4,000 on your community. It didn’t come from us. That apart, it’s more or less like should you’re the quarterback. And let’s call a prosecutor quarterback for the moment and you just throw the soccer down finally zone without telling the receiver where to head or that it’s coming. We didn’t know these fees were coming.

LEMON: I–

BOUCHARD: Wait–

LEMON: I take into account that, sheriff. Sheriff, I keep in mind that. We’re trying to remedy this for the victims. I simply wanna–and also I’m simply asking questions for the people who find themselves–

BOUCHARD: Hello, don’t inform me we’re solving it for the victims. As a result of I are living here and we breathe this.

LEMON: I be mindful. I don’t need to proceed to litigate who’s responsible. There may be time for that.

BOUCHARD: I’m now not litigating at all. All I’m saying is that process and process at all times is, inform the law enforcement ahead of discussions of warrants being issued ever happen within the public realm.

LEMON: I needless to say. I think you’ve made that completely clear. That’s why I mentioned we need to remedy this and to find the–

BOUCHARD: I agree. And we will be able to find them.
