Greg Gutfeld and Jessica Tarlov butted heads on Monday’s edition of The Five throughout a discussion about abortion’s affect on the upcoming elections.

Former President Donald Trump famously appointed three of the Supreme Court docket justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to abortion. This, Gutfeld claimed, gets rid of abortion as a nationwide issue.

“The Supreme Court docket and Trump have decoupled abortion,” he mentioned. “It’s no longer a nationwide issue anymore. It’s off the desk. So, women don’t must be the one issue voter anymore. They don’t need to ignore crime, immigration, inflation, vitality, schooling.”

Gutfeld mentioned that Trump opposes a national abortion ban and declared that the issue is “now not on the table.”

“Why did Trump flip-flop on it, then?” Tarlov asked, relating to Trump’s feedback from Aug. 29. The previous president was requested if he supports a ballot measure in his state of Florida to increase the abortion cutoff from six weeks to 23 or 24 weeks.

“Well, I do recognize, but I do need more than six weeks,” Trump said. “I would like greater than six weeks.”

“He by no means did,” Gutfeld insisted.

“He did ultimate week,” she mentioned, relating to the Trump campaign walking back his remarks the next day to come. “He mentioned he knows that a six-week abortion ban is draconian and then, after I wager he heard from the big donors, he said, ‘Ah, what? I’m just gonna let it go.’”

“It is a state thing,” Gutfeld protested as the two persisted talking past each different. “It’s nearer to the voters.”
